Surveying the shore
The Big Sea Survey
The Big Sea Survey is an exciting regional venture involving local communities and volunteers in the recording of coastal marine life.
The project, run by Newcastle University’s Dove Marine Laboratory has been out and about collecting important information about the species which live along our north east coastline. This information will be valuable to scientists and coastal managers, helping inform decisions about the protection of our rich biodiversity.
Now in its third year the project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, we will be out and about around the north east region coming to a town near you. Come along to our road show to see the Big Sea Survey exhibition and discover more about the fascinating world of marine life right on your doorstep.
